Teachers Vs. Students by ~greenjolt:icongreenjolt:

Top ten things that teachers do that if students did, would get them in trouble.

1. Tardy.
Teachers think that its ok to walk into class ten minutes late and give the excuse that they had something urgent to do.  Please.  I dont know about your school system, but when we are tardy (unexcused) we have an automated voice notification system that calls our house and tells our parents.  Now considering this, Our campus consists of four different buildings that we have a matter of ten minutes to walk to in order to get to our class.  One of the walks is a quarter of a mile! And thats just outside.  Try walking through a big crowd of students who dont think they have a class to get through.  Its murder.  So when a teacher that doesnt have any walking to do, and practically no reason to leave thier room is tardy, who calls thier parents?

2. Late Grades.
Just recently (last month or so) we had progress reports.  They were supposed to be due on a friday, but ended up being late and were given to us on Monday.  The reason?  Some teachers felt it not important enough to be turned in on time.  As a student, were are required almost daily in 6 or 7 classes to turn in work.  If its late, then no credit.  Sometimes, I'll have teachers that accept late work, but for only half credit; and only if its Monday through Friday.  No over the weekend stunts.  If our teachers cant turn in grades maybe four times a year on time, then why are they teaching us?  Isnt there some repracussion that should be in place to make sure that the only assignments they need to turn in, which is only four times a school year, will get turned in on time?  Considering I do it everyday.

3. Eating And Drinking In undesignated Areas.
We just recently had a new school built in our system, putting in effect the no food or drinks in the building rule.  The only place acceptable is the cafateria.  Granted water is ok, but nothing else.  However, Teachers are allowed to eat and drink in their own classrooms and the several staff lounges that the new school has.  However, if I were to be found in the hall with a bag of pretzles, I would have my pretzles taken away and given a fresh sheet of paper telling me when the next detention was.  I wonder how many detentions a teachers gets a year, considering I've had four so far.

4. Electronics (Music Boxes)
We are in a system where no music devices are allowed in any form on campus.  I recently had an art class where my art teacher would turn on the radio in the morning and we would have to listen to her classical music while we drew hands and trees.  However, when i asked my teacher if i could listen to my cd player after i was done with the test, she gave me a weird look and demanded the player be handed over.  Now when a player gets taken, the office can keep it till the end of the day where your parent has to come and pick it up, or till the end of the year where if youre still interested, a parent still has to come pick it up.  I'll bet you ten bucks that the office has not even seen a teachers parent to come retrieve a musical player this year; let alone ever.

5. Cell Phones/ Pagers
We are not allowed to have cell phones or pagers visible in school either.  If they are visible, most teachers will tell you to put it away.  However, if it rings, then the teachers feel obligated to take them with the same policy as musical devices.   But... just the other day my teacher stopped class to answer his pager that paged him and then used his cell phone to answer the page!  Who was there to take those devices?

6. Use class time to do other class work
Often times teachers give us busy work to keep us busy so that they can catch up on corrections and assignments.  Why didnt they do that at home when they were supposed to?  I mean if i were caught doing math in sociology i would get the work taken and ripped up in class.  Its not fair that teachers are getting paid to teach us when they dont and yet we are expected and not paid to do work.  Kind of like they want us to be walking dummies, isnt it?

7. Personal Work on Computers
I student aid for one of my teachers and he was recently checking his email on the computer at school.  If i was caught doing that i would get my computer privilages taken for the rest of the year!  Also, I saw one teacher on ebay, another surfing my space, purevolume, addicting games, deviantart, xanga, and even neopets.  If i were caught on those sites, id be expelled!  But there is no way to verify the truth because the histories on all of the computers are deleted every night.

8. No shoes
Halloween was recent, and we dress up at our school.  I saw a kid walking around with a bath robe on in the buildings, and later i saw him walking around with just a speedo on and his robe slung over his arm.  I then saw a teacher wearing boxers and no shirt.  I asked him what he was out of curiosity.  He states simply: A young adult male.  However, I heard that the kid with a speedo on got a suspension for insabordination.  Fair?

9. Allowed to Use Elevator even if not disabled
I had foot surgery over last thanksgiving and christmas breaks.  It was easier to plan it around them, but i still had to use the elevator.  I would either get wheeled down by someone, or crutch down the hall to the elevators, put the key in and wait.  when the door opened, the one thing that would get me the most of all would be a teacher perfectly able, walking out of it, preventing me from being on my way.  Talk about lazy.  And also, when i had a friend ride with me while i was on crutches, one of the teachers exiting actually made them meet me down the stairs because they were able to walk.  Talk about audacity.

10. Personal Errands during class
The one thing that i dont like about teachers is that they think that they can do whatever they want while we are working.  Teachers leaving to go to the bathroom, go cook food, go talk to another teacher, make copies, go use the phone in the office, or whatever it is, they are allowed to leave the room with us completly unattended while they go run some personal errands.  If i asked a teacher to go use the phone to call one of my friends in ohio just to see how they are doing, what do you think they would say?

   Simply said, Nothing is fair.

Teachers are qualified professionals of some sort. Students are qualified for nothing. They do the same job every day, every year, and always have work. Cut 'em some slack. Still, thats no reason for a teacher to be a prick. Sounds like yours are a bit uppity XD

Thats why I like college. You pay them to teach you, so they better do it right =D. That, and Instructer evaluations. ^_^

The last 2 especially.
